I was asked recently, how did the Democrats stay in power in the House so long?   Particularly after Reagan won office and the GOP held the Presidency from 80-88?  During that entire time, the opposition party controlled the House.   There’s a mix of explanations – gerrymandering (Democrats really did a number in California.) as well as midterm successes (with Reagan in the White House, Democrats benefited from any dislike of his policies.  This cast talks about all the Reasons the House was controlled by one party – the only time – for 40 years.
