In the Emoluments Podcast we talked a lot about George Washington’s farm and the Federal City project. In this episode, we talk more about the river, with help from an old green book that I found. It’s good to understand how important the Potomac was to the United States and to Washington in the early years of its existence. The powerful river fueled industry and commerce, and gave confidence to the Revolutionary movement. Washington’s decision to mount the city in this location had important political overtones.
